Dessert. For some it’s an afterthought, for others it’s the whole enchilada. But whether you view dessert as the main event or an afterthought we can all agree that it’s well worth the wait.
We’ve compiled 5 of our most scrumptious dessert recipes for you to savor. Some of them feature chocolate (which I believe is a necessity) and some are fruit based. But all 5 recipes share three important things in common.
- They feature high quality Primo products
- Have been taste tested and approved by all of us at Primo Oils
- Are simple and quick to whip up

Recipe 2: Apple Balsamic Glazed Cake
The Fall crisp flavors of apple are perfectly highlighted in this delightful sour cream based cake. The key to any cake is making sure that it bakes through without overbaking. The ‘ole toothpick test works best here. Once the cake bakes for the appropriate length of time use a toothpick in the center. If it comes out clean your cake is done, if some of the batter sticks to the toothpick try a few more minutes before you pull it out of the oven. If you want to take this cake to the next level you can cut the apple slices into stars, moons, leaves, or any fall themed image you can find in a cookie cutter. It gives your cake a true flair.

Recipe 3: Pumpkin Seed Butter Cake
Who doesn’t love the smell of pumpkin spice filling their home? This Seed Butter Cake is amazing either for dessert or as a great brunch accompaniment. We’ve known a book club or two to devour the entire cake! The added bonus of using our Pumpkin Seed Butter is that you get a nice addition of protein for this delicious treat.
Recipe 4: Dark Chocolate Balsamic Tiramisu
If you love the flavors of espresso and chocolate you have just found your favorite dessert! This traditional Italian Tiramisu gets a Primo kick from our Dark Chocolate Balsamic Vinegar. The other local twist to this recipe is found at the classic Louisville bakery, Plehn’s. Their ladyfingers make this dish have a great local flair. Since tiramisu is best once the flavors have melded together you can make this dish in advance to serve at your holiday gathering or for a sweet night in.

Recipe 5: Pecan Orange Baklava
One of our favorites because not only is this a perfect holiday treat addition but it’s beautiful too! Baklava is a Mediterranean dessert. This one, created by our very own Sally, features Orange Olive Oil to give it some holiday pizzazz.
One note – if you’re unfamiliar with phyllo dough, remember that it’s easiest to work with when at room temperature. Most phyllo dough comes frozen so let it defrost in the fridge overnight and then rest on the counter to come to room temperature while you assemble your ingredients.
This recipe features Lavender Honey from Savannah Bee. It’s the “secret ingredient” that turns Sally’s Baklava into a WOW dish.
