Balsamic Caramelized Onion Grilled Cheese
You'll want seconds after trying this flavorful balsamic caramelized onion grilled cheese sandwich!
Ingredients
- 1 skinned, halved, and sliced yellow onion
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp Primo's Cayenne Chili Olive OIl
- 2 tbsp Primo's Tarragon White Balsamic Vinegar
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 pinch pepper
- 1 tbsp fresh, chopped basil
- 2 cup shredded fontina cheese
- 4 slices bread
- 3-4 tbsp unsalted butter for the bread
Instructions
- Add butter and Primo's Cayenne Chili Olive Oil to a pan and heat on medium/high until butter melts. Add onions. Stir and cook until translucent and slightly browned.
- Add Primo's Tarragon White Balsamic Vinegar, salt, and pepper. Cook until caramelized. Once caramelized, add chopped basil and turn off heat. Set aside.
- Warm a different large skillet or griddle on medium heat. Butter one side of each slice of bread. Place each slice (butter-side down) on the pan.
- Add half a cup of shredded cheese to each slice. Place half the caramelized onions on 2 slices of bread.
- After 3-4 minutes, flip the cheese-only slices over to the cheese-and-onion slices. Cook for 1-2 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let sit for a minute or two before cutting and serving. Enjoy!
