1999 called — they want their apple cider vinegar and olive oil health craze back. That’s right, the world is once again catching on to this power-packed combo. Primo Oils never forgot, though.

And while many of us enjoyed the wild ride that is the Apple Cider Vinegar drama on Netflix, we don’t necessarily want to buy into this wild health craze without looking a little closer into the details. And if you haven’t binge-watched Apple Cider Vinegar yet, go ahead, we’ll wait.

Apple Cider Vinegar and Olive Oil Benefits

Apple cider vinegar and olive oil have some crazy health claims, but they are based on real scientific facts. Here is what we know for sure about this duo…

Olive Oil, specifically Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO), can improve your heart health and has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Read more about the numerous health effects of EVOO in one of our articles.

Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) has been shown to help lower blood glucose levels. Plus, it’s linked in studies as an additional element to help weight loss. That’s all that the science has really confirmed at this point.

Ways to Enjoy Apple Cider Vinegar and Olive Oil

We can all agree that this combo, whatever the wild health claims on the internet are, does root itself in fact. So, if you want to add a little more of these health-conscious items to your diet we fully support you. Here are a few ways to incorporate this health trend…

Apple Cider Vinegar Shot in the Morning

1 Tbsp of Apple Cider Vinegar

6 oz of water

2 oz Pineapple or Apple Juice

Shake of Cinnamon

Shake of Cayenne Pepper

Mix all ingredients and drink before breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Fact: Since the Journal of Scientific Foods released a study where they added a 2-tbsp “shot” of ACV to the lunch and dinner of the trial participants, nutritionists and internet health gurus have gone nuts for the ACV Shot. It’s important to note that in the study, participants were on a 250-calorie-a-day deficit and were participating in an exercise program. Those who were given ACV over the placebo lost on average an additional 3 lbs over 12 weeks.

Fiction: A “shot” of ACV alone with every meal will do little to nothing to help you lose weight if you aren’t also watching your diet and exercising daily.

NOTE: It’s important to mix your ACV with water or to wash your mouth out afterward. The acidic nature of Apple Cider Vinegar can strip your tooth enamel.

Apple Cider and Olive Oil Dressing

We love a classic apple cider vinegar and olive oil dressing. This recipe is from Love and Lemons.

Whisk all ingredients together. Good for up to one week in the fridge. Mix/shake before serving.

Fact: Apple Cider Vinegar has been proven to have strong anti-microbial properties. This means if you use it on your salads it can help to kill any bacteria that may linger. Good to know in a world where lettuce health recalls seem to be happening more and more.

Fiction: ACV may have anti-microbial properties but it’s not magic! Raw chicken is never good to eat.

Apple Cider Vinegar Marinade with EVOO

This recipe from Eating Bird Food is right up our alley. Few ingredients, simple, and easy to whip up!

Mix all ingredients and marinate your meat for up to one hour. Cook on the grill, in a pan or in the oven!

Fact: Apple Cider Vinegar, like all vinegars, is a great ingredient to help you tenderize meat. It’s best used on red meat and poultry. Fish and pork are not recommended. You also want to keep an eye on the time, any longer than an hour and your ACV marinade could turn your meat mushy.

Fiction: Apple cider vinegar is no healthier than any other vinegar or acid you would use in a marinade.

How Can Apple Cider Vinegar and Olive Oil Help?

Now that we know that there is some validity to the wild health claims on the internet we thought it would be fun to look into what else people claim this healthy duo can do. The combination of apple cider vinegar and olive oil offers numerous health benefits through their complementary properties.

These kitchen staples bring all sorts of wellness perks, inside and out. Now, we can’t 100% vouch for any of the following health claims, but it does make for some interesting reading. As some doctors say, can’t hurt and might help. Make sure to check with your doctor before trying any of the recommended supplements or diet changes.

Now, on to the ACV/EVOO magic!

Olive Oil and Apple Cider Vinegar for Skin

Mix up some ACV and olive oil and you’ve got yourself a mighty fine skin remedy. ACV balances your skin’s pH and gently exfoliates, while olive oil swoops in with deep moisture. It’s like a spa day in a mason jar.

For a basic toner, mix one part ACV with three parts water and a few drops of olive oil. Dab it on with a cotton ball after you wash your face.

If you have dry skin, blend equal parts ACV and olive oil for a mask. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes, then rinse with warm water.

Struggling with breakouts? ACV’s antimicrobial powers help fight off bacteria, and olive oil’s anti-inflammatory touch calms redness.

With regular use, you might just notice smoother skin, fewer dark spots, and a little extra glow—without all those harsh store-bought chemicals.

Olive Oil and Apple Cider Vinegar for Constipation

Now, if you’re feeling a little, ahem, backed up, this combo can help get things moving. ACV gets your digestive juices flowing, and olive oil adds a little lubrication down the line.

Here’s a quick fix for those sluggish mornings:

1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

1 teaspoon raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar

8 oz warm water

Mix it up and drink it first thing before breakfast. Olive oil softens things up, and ACV gives your gut a nudge.

If you’re dealing with this often, try it daily for a while. Those healthy fats in olive oil also help keep your gut microbiome happy, which is a big deal for digestion. Some like to add a spoonful of honey or maple syrup to help the medicine go down.

Apple Cider Vinegar And Olive Oil For Weight Loss

Trying to shed a few pounds? This mix might lend a hand. ACV’s acetic acid can help curb your appetite, and olive oil’s healthy fats keep you satisfied so you’re not chasing snacks all day.

Here’s a simple drink to try:

1 tablespoon ACV

1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil

1 cup water

Optional: lemon juice for a little zing

Drink it 15-20 minutes before meals. The acetic acid in ACV can help keep your blood sugar steady, so you’re less likely to crash and crave sweets.

Olive oil’s monounsaturated fats give your metabolism a nudge and help with inflammation. Plus, they help you soak up all those fat-soluble vitamins from your veggies.

Keep in mind, this ain’t a miracle cure. It works best as part of a balanced diet and exercise, maybe a stroll around the block or some golf?

Apple Cider Vinegar And Olive Oil For Hair

If your hair’s looking a little tired, this natural treatment can perk it right up. ACV clears out buildup and balances your scalp, while olive oil dives in deep to moisturize and add shine.

Try this for a hair mask:

Mix 2 tablespoons olive oil with 1 tablespoon ACV

Work it from roots to tips

Pop on a shower cap

Let it sit for 30-45 minutes

Wash and condition like usual

This helps balance oil, so it’s good for dry or oily hair. ACV smooths down your hair cuticles, fighting frizz and boosting shine.

If dandruff’s got you scratching, massage the mix into your scalp and let it sit for 15 minutes before washing. ACV’s antimicrobial powers help kick those flakes to the curb.

Stick with it, and you might notice stronger hair and less breakage. Olive oil’s vitamin E even helps protect your hair from the sun and whatever else life throws your way.

Olive Oil And Apple Cider Vinegar For Gallstones

Now, you may have heard some people swearing that a little EVOO and ACV help keep those pesky gallstones at bay. That tart kick from ACV? It just might help break down those little cholesterol-based stones, and olive oil gets your gallbladder movin’—like a gentle nudge out the door.

A classic gallstone flush usually looks like this:

1 tablespoon ACV in warm water before meals

2 tablespoons olive oil before bed

The malic acid in ACV is thought to soften up the stones, making them easier to pass. Olive oil brings anti-inflammatory goodness and helps keep things flowing smoothly in the gallbladder and bile ducts. If you want to see the science, check out these healthy monounsaturated fats in olive oil—they’re the real deal for happy bile.

If you’re dealing with bigger stones or pain that just won’t quit, call your doctor. This home remedy’s more for prevention or those mild, nagging gallstone issues that just need a little TLC.

Apple Cider Vinegar And Olive Oil Massage

Mixing up a massage oil with these two? It’s a treat for achy muscles and tired skin. Both ingredients bring their anti-inflammatory game, helping soothe those sore spots that just won’t hush up. Personally, we’ll be skipping this one but let us know if you try it.

Here’s a down-home recipe:

4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

Optional: 3-5 drops of essential oil (lavender, eucalyptus, or peppermint—whatever tickles your fancy)

Warm the mixture up by rubbing it together in your hands, then rub it in with firm, loving circles. Olive oil glides like a dream, and that ACV? It works its way right into those cranky muscles.

So there you have it! From the wildest of health claims to the barest of scientific facts. Apple Cider Vinegar and Olive Oil are definitely a health-packed duo, even if they don’t always hold up to the magic elixir the internet claims they are.
