1cupPrimo's Jalapeno Compote(adjust to taste for spice)
1/2cupsugar
1/4cupwater
1tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
Instructions
Prepare the Jalapeno Compote:
In a saucepan, combine the Primo's Jalapeno Compote, sugar, water, and lemon juice.
Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a simmer. Stir occasionally to dissolve the sugar.
Let the compote simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until it thickens slightly. If you prefer a thicker compote, you can whisk in the cornstarch and continue to simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes.
Remove the compote from heat and allow it to cool to room temperature. It will thicken more as it cools.
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Prepare the Baked Brie:
Place the sheet of puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Roll it out slightly to make it large enough to wrap the entire Brie wheel.
Lay the Brie wheel in the center of the pastry sheet. If desired, you can cut off the top rind of the Brie, but it's not necessary.
Spoon a generous amount of the cooled Jalapeno Compote onto the Brie.
Wrap the Brie:
Carefully fold the puff pastry over the Brie and compote, sealing the edges by pressing them together. Trim any excess pastry if needed.
Place the wrapped Brie on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, seam side down.
Egg Wash and Bake:
Brush the beaten egg over the entire surface of the puff pastry. This will give it a beautiful golden color when baked.
Make a few small slits on top of the pastry to allow steam to escape.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and crisp.
Serve:
Remove the baked Brie from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Drizzle honey over the top if desired for an extra touch of sweetness.
Garnish with fresh rosemary sprigs for a fragrant and decorative touch.
Enjoy:
Serve your Baked Brie with Jalapeno Compote with slices of baguette, crackers, or apple slices for a delightful combination of sweet and spicy flavors.
Tips and Variations:
Adjust the amount of Primo's Jalapeno Compote to your desired level of spiciness. You can make it milder or hotter by adding more or less.
Experiment with different types of pastry dough, such as phyllo or crescent roll dough, for a unique twist on this recipe.
For a nutty crunch, you can sprinkle some chopped toasted nuts (e.g., almonds or pecans) over the compote before wrapping the Brie.
This dish is versatile and can be customized with your favorite preserves or compotes if you prefer a different flavor profile.
