Balsamic Caramelized Onion Grilled Cheese

You'll want seconds after trying this flavorful balsamic caramelized onion grilled cheese sandwich!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 skinned, halved, and sliced yellow onion
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp Primo's Cayenne Chili Olive OIl
  • 2 tbsp Primo's Tarragon White Balsamic Vinegar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch pepper
  • 1 tbsp fresh, chopped basil
  • 2 cup shredded fontina cheese
  • 4 slices bread
  • 3-4 tbsp unsalted butter for the bread

Instructions
 

  • Add butter and Primo's Cayenne Chili Olive Oil to a pan and heat on medium/high until butter melts. Add onions. Stir and cook until translucent and slightly browned.
  • Add Primo's Tarragon White Balsamic Vinegar, salt, and pepper. Cook until caramelized. Once caramelized, add chopped basil and turn off heat. Set aside.
  • Warm a different large skillet or griddle on medium heat. Butter one side of each slice of bread. Place each slice (butter-side down) on the pan.
  • Add half a cup of shredded cheese to each slice. Place half the caramelized onions on 2 slices of bread.
  • After 3-4 minutes, flip the cheese-only slices over to the cheese-and-onion slices. Cook for 1-2 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Let sit for a minute or two before cutting and serving. Enjoy!
